St Mary’s church Hegdenagar celebrated the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with great fervor and devotion on Sept. 8th, 2024. The festal celebration was marked by series of events like the offering of flowers at the Marian grotto, the blessing of the new corn, and the solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist.



Children played a prominent role in the celebrations of offering flowers to Mary as part of the traditional ritual symbolizing their love and reverence for the Blessed Mother. The final day of the celebration saw a grand Eucharistic celebration presided over by the parish priest Fr. Boniface D’ Souza OCD Asst. Fr. Ivan Sanctis OCD delivered a meaningful homily on Mother Mary and family. The parish priest Thanked all benefactors, and well-wishers who generously contributed for the feast. A large gathering of parishioners was attended for the celebration. The Monti fest was a joyful occasion that brought the Konkani community together in faith and festivity. After the mass sugar cane was distributed and traditional eatables and sweets were served reflecting the spirit of unity and sharing that Monti Fest is known for with a special focus on celebrating the harvest and family life.
The celebration of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary which is known as Monti Fest was preceded by nine days of novena prayers and holy mass during which devotees gathered at the grotto of Mother Mary to offer flowers. The festival was a testament to the devotion and faith of the parish community.
