It was a moment of grace and faith-filled celebration for the people of Hegde Nagar. As part of the Archdiocesan Jubilee Year of Hope 2025, the Sacred Jubilee Cross bearing a tiny relic of the true Cross of Christ visited numerous parishes. It was also a privilege for us to receive the Cross. On 29th June, the faithful joyfully received the Cross at the church entrance, accompanied by incense, hymns, and prayers. The Jubilee Cross was placed prominently on the altar. The procession and special services were organized under the dedicated leadership of the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Boniface D’Souza OCD, who ensured that the entire parish experienced this moment of spiritual renewal and divine blessing.
Fr. shared the reflection, stating, “This Cross is not just wood, but it is a symbol of our salvation and a visible sign of God’s mercy. By venerating the Jubilee Cross, we enter into the mystery of Christ’s love, and we prepare ourselves for the holy year of 2025 with renewed faith. The Cross remained available for personal veneration for all the parishioners. After each mass Cross was taken in procession within the church. Parishioners expressed their joy, saying, “I felt peace and strength within me,” someone said. Another said, “The joy was so much I cannot express in words,” said another.
The event was not just a celebration but a sacred encounter, reminding every faithful soul at St. Mary’s Church, Hegde Nagar, that the Cross of Christ is the source of life, hope, and renewal. People expressed their deep faith and devotion towards the cross. All the parishioners, including Carmel youths, the Legion of Mary, and religious sisters of our parish, spent their time praying before the Cross.
