St. Mary’s Church, Hegdengar, organized a Lenten retreat for the youth and children of the parish on 22nd March 2026. The primary purpose of conducting this retreat was to bring together the youth of the parish and to enrich them spiritually during the sacred season of Lent.
The retreat was animated by the MEP youth group, comprising young leaders from different parishes. Their dedication and enthusiasm created a vibrant and prayerful atmosphere throughout the day. The theme of the retreat, “Discovering God’s Awesome Plan in the Lives of the Youth,” invited participants to reflect deeply on their personal calling and God’s purpose in their lives.
The retreat included a variety of sessions that addressed the realities and challenges faced by today’s youth. Through talks, group activities, praise and worship, and interactive discussions, the participants were encouraged to grow in faith and strengthen their relationship with God. The sessions also focused on common struggles faced by young people and offered guidance rooted in Christian values.
Special attention was given to the children, who actively participated in a variety of action songs, games, and engaging activities that made their experience joyful and meaningful.
A large number of youth from different groups within the parish were well represented and actively participated, making the retreat a lively and grace-filled gathering. Food and snacks were provided for all participants, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment.
At the conclusion of the retreat, the Parish Priest, Fr. Boniface D’Souza, OCD expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the MEP youth team for organizing and leading such an enriching spiritual experience. He also appreciated the active participation of the youth and encouraged them to continue living out the values they had learned during the retreat.
The retreat was indeed a spiritually uplifting experience, helping the youth to rediscover their faith and recognize God’s loving plan in their lives.
