St. Mary’s Church, Hegde Nagar Honours Grandparents with Gratitude and Grace

On 26th July 2025, St. Mary’s Church, Hegde Nagar came together in a spirit of joy and thanksgiving to celebrate Grandparents Day. Paying heartfelt tribute to the senior members of the parish, the treasured pillars of families and faith.

The day began with a special Holy Eucharistic celebration offered by Parish Priest Fr. Boniface Dsouza OCD, dedicated to all grandparents. In his homily, Fr. Boniface reflected on the invaluable role grandparents play in nurturing faith and love across generations.

“This day reminds us to cherish and honour the love, wisdom, and sacrifices of our grandparents. They are a blessing not only to their families but to the entire Church,” he shared warmly.

Following the Mass, a felicitation program was held in the community hall. Fr. Boniface extended warm wishes and deep appreciation to all grandparents present while recognizing their unwavering faith and contribution to the parish community.

The event was made even more special by vibrant song and dance performances by children and youth expressing love and admiration for their elders. Parishioner Mrs. Shaline Serrao shared her heartfelt thoughts and reflections. The senior members shared thier life experience and faith journey which moved the gathering deeply.

In his concluding address, Fr. Boniface encouraged all seniors to embrace health and happiness offering simple but powerful advice:

“Walk a mile each day, drink enough water each morning, think positively, smile often, and always remain cheerful.”

The event concluded with light refreshments and fellowship, leaving everyone with full hearts and a renewed sense of connection. It was a beautiful day of honouring the legacy, love and blessings that grandparents continue to offer to the Church and society.
