On 27th August 2025, the Legion of Mary and the youth of St. Mary’s Church, Hegde Nagar, undertook a spiritual pilgrimage led by their parish priest, Rev. Fr. Boniface D. Souza OCD. They visited the holy Rosary Church at Harobale, Kapala Betta, St. Antony’s Shrine at Halasuru, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mariapura. The pilgrimage was organized as part of the jubilee year to deepen the community’s faith.
The journey began at the parish church with prayers and blessings as Legion of Mary members carried their personal intentions along with those of the archdiocese and the universal church. The pilgrims then travelled together to holy Rosary Church, Harobale. We were warmly welcomed by the Parish priest, Rev. Fr. Patrick Pinto. A brief history of the church was narrated by the parish priest, who said how the church has become the Centre of attraction for the people of the village. Pilgrims were deeply moved by the rich history of this sacred place especially the ancient cross enshrined with relics of the true cross of Christ, followed by a solemn Eucharistic celebration, during which special prayers were offered to the Pope, for families, the sick and the elderly, the youth and for peace and harmony in society and hereby fulfilling the requirements to obtain the jubilee indulgence. The visit to Kapala Betta became not just a physical journey, but a true spiritual experience of unity, fellowship, and renewal of faith. Then we halted at our Lady of Mount Carmel church, Mariapura, where pilgrims paused in prayer and devotion before the gigantic statue of St. Antony, entrusting their petitions through the saint’s intercession.
The pilgrimage strengthened their devotion to our Blessed Mother and provided an opportunity for them to grow closer to God as a community. The members of the Legion of Mary and youth expressed gratitude for the opportunity to strengthen their devotion to the mother of God and to renew their commitment to Christian living.
The pilgrims returned to St. Mary’s church enriched spiritually and thankful for the blessings received through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
