A report on the holy week triduum at St Mary’s church, Hegdenagar:
The holy week triduum, comprising holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter vigil, was prayerfully and solemnly celebrated at St. Mary’s church, Hegde Nagar, with services held in three languages to serve the diverse parish community. Each day’s liturgy invited the faithful to enter deeply into the paschal mystery of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection. The services were conducted in three languages to cater to the spiritual needs of the diverse parish community.
In English, the services were led by Fr. Rathen Almeida OCD, director of Dhyanavana Spirituality Centre, Mysore. Whose inspiring and thought-provoking homilies helped the congregation reflect profoundly on Christ’s self-giving love. In Kannada, Fr. Ivan Sanctis preached with passion and clarity, touching the hearts of the faithful and guiding them spiritually through each liturgical moment. In Tamil, Fr. Selva Kumar delivered meaningful reflections offering the Tamil-speaking community a rich spiritual experience of the triduum.
The liturgy was enhanced by the dedicated service of the choir, altar servers, lectors, and ushers, who all contributed to the solemn and prayerful atmosphere. The washing of the feet on the holy Thursday, the veneration of the cross on Good Friday, and the Exultet or Easter vigil’s proclamation of the Resurrection were particularly moving moments for all in attendance.
The three-day celebration was a powerful experience of grace and renewal, uniting the parish community in the joy and hope of the Risen Lord.
